We are now part of the Swimathon Foundation family
The Marathon Swims event – London’s swimming marathon - has become part of the Swimathon Foundation’s family of swimming events. After a 3rd sell-out year, this marks a step change for Marathon Swims as it seeks to scale up and expand in 2020.
Chair of The Swimathon Foundation, Anthony Kendall OBE said, “We see great potential in Marathon Swims. This event has proved to the industry that there is huge potential for a premium, distance swimming experience and we are keen that The Swimathon Foundation plays a big role in developing the fundraising and swimming participation elements of this event further. Marathon Swims provides a welcome addition to our calendar of swimming events, joining the Swimathon, Open Water Swimathon and School Swimathon in providing opportunities to the public to discover the benefits of swimming, to challenge their swimming abilities and raise funds for good causes.”
Marathon Swims’ founder Diccon Loy of Participation Sport will continue to oversee the expansion of Marathon Swims for The Swimathon Foundation. Diccon Loy said, “In its first 3 years we’ve taken this event from concept to sell-out, raising thousands of pounds for charity, doubling capacity and breaking records every year. We’re very excited to be working with The Swimathon Foundation. Their 30 years of fundraising and event development experience will help us to move swimming participation events into the fast lane.”
